Knowing Jesus Through the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit’s main role is to reveal Jesus to you. As disciples, the Holy Spirit illuminates the life, character, and purpose of Christ so that your knowledge of Him moves from intellectual understanding to intimate relationship. This revelation transforms how you worship, serve, and obey.

Through the Holy Spirit, you begin to understand Jesus’ heart, His love, and His mission for your life. You see beyond the miracles and teachings to His compassionate nature, His priorities, and the Kingdom values He exemplified. This deep knowing equips you to emulate Christ in every circumstance.

Discipleship is about being conformed to the image of Jesus, and this transformation is impossible without the Spirit. He guides your thoughts, aligns your actions, and teaches you how to respond to people and situations the way Jesus would. In essence, He is your personal spiritual tutor, ensuring that your life mirrors Christ’s.

When the Holy Spirit deepens your knowledge of Jesus, your faith is strengthened, your prayers become more aligned with God’s will, and your witness becomes powerful and authentic. The Holy Spirit does not just tell you about Jesus; He helps you live like Him.

Assessment Questions:

1. How can you allow the Holy Spirit to deepen your understanding of Jesus beyond intellectual knowledge?

2. What changes might occur in your life when your knowledge of Jesus is Spirit-led rather than study-led?

As followers of Christ, it is essential for us to understand the primary duty of the Holy Spirit and discern its manifestations in our lives. The Holy Spirit, as promised by Jesus, is our advocate, counselor, and guide (John 14:16). One of its fundamental roles is to reveal God's plan to us through various means, including scriptures, dreams, prophecy, and vision. Through these channels, the Holy Spirit illuminates our path and empowers us to walk in alignment with God's will. However, it is crucial to discern the source of spiritual manifestations. While the Holy Spirit operates to glorify God and align us with His purposes, there are other spirits at work, such as familiar spirits, whose intent is to deceive and lead astray. How do we discern the workings of the Holy Spirit from those of familiar spirits? The key lies in examining the motives and outcomes of the spiritual experiences...
