The Holy Spirit Helps You to Become More Responsible

The Holy Spirit does not come into your life merely to make you feel spiritual; He comes to help you become spiritually responsible. One of the evidences of His work in a believer is the development of character, discipline, obedience and accountability. When you truly fellowship with the Holy Spirit, you begin to understand that your decisions have consequences and that maturity requires you to take responsibility for your life, relationships, assignments and calling. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Romans 8:14.

The Holy Spirit will not continually allow you to blame everybody for what is happening in your life. He teaches you to examine yourself, correct your mistakes and make better decisions. There are things prayer will not replace because God expects you to respond with wisdom and obedience. You cannot continually blame your upbringing, your parents, your pastor, your partner or your enemies for every wrong decision you make. The Spirit of God leads you into truth, and truth demands responsibility.

Responsibility also means learning to manage what God has already placed in your hands. Your gift requires responsibility. Your relationships require responsibility. Your finances, time, words, emotions and spiritual development require responsibility. The Holy Spirit may convict you when you are wrong, but conviction is not condemnation. It is an invitation to change. A believer who responds to the conviction of the Holy Spirit grows into greater maturity and becomes increasingly useful in the purposes of God.

I have discovered that many people desire the power of the Holy Spirit without wanting the discipline that comes with walking with Him. They want prophetic revelation but do not want character development. They want spiritual authority but resist accountability. They want God to change their circumstances while refusing to change their habits. But the Holy Spirit is interested in the whole person. He wants to make you powerful enough to represent Christ and mature enough to handle what He gives you.

Beloved, allow the Holy Spirit to teach you responsibility. Stop waiting for everyone else to change before you do what God has called you to do. Take responsibility for your spiritual growth, your decisions, your relationships and your assignment. The Holy Spirit is not only the One who gives you spiritual experiences; He is the One who helps you become a mature son or daughter of God. Let Him lead you, correct you and transform you until your life becomes a trustworthy expression of Christ.Ladies of Godly Value
